Rob Dixon Trio
Rob Dixon Trio Brings World-Class Jazz to the Living Room
I love experiencing music up close.
The latest Clear Vibes House Concert welcomed the Rob Dixon Trio for an afternoon of exceptional jazz, transforming my living room into one of the most intimate performance spaces in Indianapolis. Guests settled in just a few feet from the musicians, creating a listening environment where every note, every interaction, and every moment could be fully appreciated.
Rob is a Pillar of the Indianapolis Jazz Scene
Rob Dixon has long been one of the driving forces behind Indianapolis jazz but is always helping other musicians and artists in the scene. A saxophonist, composer, educator, and collaborator, he's performed with internationally renowned artists while remaining deeply committed to the local music community. Whether he's leading his own groups or sitting in with fellow musicians, Rob continues to shape the city's vibrant jazz scene. Something very special about Rob is that he always makes sure others are taken care of and that they get paid for their work.
Seeing him perform in a living room is a rare opportunity—one that allows audiences to experience both his incredible musicianship and the warmth of his personality in a uniquely personal setting. He shared some stories behind his music which was a rare opportunity for guests.

An Outstanding Trio
Rob was joined by two phenomenal musicians: Steven Jones on keyboards and Richard "Sleepy" Floyd on drums.
Steven Jones is one of Indianapolis's finest pianists and is a familiar face to jazz fans, performing every Thursday at the Chatterbox Jazz Club. His expressive playing and effortless improvisation brought depth and color to every tune.
Richard "Sleepy" Floyd provided the rhythmic heartbeat of the trio with decades of experience and a remarkable ability to make even the most complex passages feel effortless. His musical conversations with Rob and Steven were fun to watch unfold.
Together, the trio showcased the trust and chemistry that comes from years of making music together.
Indianapolis Jazz at Its Best
One of the things I love most about hosting local musicians is introducing guests to artists they can continue to enjoy.
Rob Dixon, Steven Jones, and Richard "Sleepy" Floyd are all regular performers in Indianapolis and can often be heard at beloved venues like the Chatterbox Jazz Club and The Jazz Kitchen. If you missed this house concert—or simply want to hear more—you don't have to wait long to catch them again.
We're fortunate to have musicians of this caliber performing right here in our city.
The Magic of a House Concert
Without a stage separating performers from the audience, the music feels different. Conversations between songs become part of the experience, subtle musical interactions are easy to catch, and every seat feels like the front row.
Many guests commented on how special it was to hear these accomplished musicians in such an intimate setting. Even those who have seen the trio at clubs around town agreed that a house concert offers something entirely unique.
It's a reminder that great music doesn't require a large venue—just talented musicians and an audience that's ready to listen.
A heartfelt thank you to Rob Dixon, Steven Jones, and Richard "Sleepy" Floyd for sharing their extraordinary talent with us. Their musicianship, generosity, and joy made for an unforgettable afternoon.
Thank you as well to everyone who joined us and continues to support Clear Vibes House Concerts. Your enthusiasm for live music is what makes these gatherings possible, and we love bringing together neighbors, friends, and music lovers to share experiences like this.
