Chicken Wire Empire traveled through Indianapolis from Wisconsin and stopped at Clear Vibes House Concerts for an unforgettable evening of live acoustic bluegrass music!
Big thank you to Jordan Kroeger on bass, Jon Peik on banjo, Ernest Brusubardis IV on fiddle, Carter Shilts on mandolin, and Starr Moss on guitar for coming to play for us in this special little room. These guys were gracious, fun, and a really nice group of musicians to work with.
An Intimate Living Room Show
With rain in the forecast all day, the decision was made to move the concert indoors. And of course… it never rained. That’s Indiana weather for you. But the indoor setting worked out perfectly for this performance. The living room setting created an experience that felt deeply personal and authentic.
Because the show was inside, Chicken Wire Empire performed a completely acoustic set with no microphones or speakers — just natural instruments and harmonies filling the room. Guests weren’t separated from the music by a stage or sound system. Hearing bluegrass music performed that way created an intimate experience that guests won’t soon forget.
Standing Room Only for Live Bluegrass in Indianapolis
By the time late arrivals came through the door, it was standing room only for listening guests. It was a full house! The turnout was such a great reminder that people truly care about live music and community connection.
In addition to the concert donations, guests also showed up in a big way to support the band. Fans picked up t-shirts, stickers, CDs, and vinyl records, and many stayed afterward to have their items signed by the band. Supporting artists through merch purchases is one of the most impactful ways audiences can help independent touring musicians continue doing what they love, and it was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and support in the room.
House Concert Hospitality
The band arrived early to settle into the space, warm up, and share a meal before the show. Huge thanks to regular house concert supporter Christian Workman, who volunteered to cook lunch for the band. He is a chef and prepared an incredible taco spread featuring pork tacos, a jackfruit vegetarian option, rice, beans, guacamole, and all the fixins’. Safe to say the band left Indy with full bellies and an appreciation for Midwest tacos.
Feeding the band is just one way house concerts can show hospitality to the artists. Independent house concerts may be small compared to traditional venues, but they create something much harder to replicate.
Why House Concerts Matter
Clear Vibes House Concerts continues to prove that small independent music events create powerful experiences. There’s something incredibly meaningful about opening up a home and transforming it into a listening room for an evening. No distractions. No massive crowds. Just music, conversation, laughter, and connection.
Huge thank you to Chicken Wire Empire for making the trip to Indianapolis and filling the living room with incredible music. And thank you to everyone who attended, supported live music, bought merch, filled the room, and helped create such a memorable evening. And, according to Dahlia dog (who is the true host!), house concert days are still the best days ever.
