FlowPoetry with Lizz Vega
Some performances entertain. Others create an experience that stays with you long after it ends. The June Clear Vibes House Concert featuring FlowPoetry and Lizz Vega was one of those special experiences.
An Original Collaboration
This performance marked the first time these two artists had publicly collaborated in this way, and what unfolded was something truly unique. Through original poetry, spoken word, improvisation, music, rhythm, and sound exploration, they created an evening that felt organic, intimate, and completely in the moment.
There was no formula being followed and no expectation of what would come next. The audience was invited into a shared creative space where words, sounds, and silence all played an important role.
A Room Full of Creatives
The audience reflected the spirit of the evening. Musicians, artists, poets, and creative community members gathered together, bringing an openness and curiosity that helped shape the energy in the room.
You could feel people leaning in and listening closely as the performance unfolded. It wasn't background music. It was a beautiful invitation to be fully present in the moment with organic sounds, experiencing something unique that connected you with natural flowing vibes and with the others in the room.
When Poetry Becomes Music
One of the most interesting themes of the evening was the conversation around how art forms overlap and influence one another.
FlowPoetry's spoken word pieces demonstrated how poetry can become musical even without being sung. The rhythms of language, combined with instrumental accompaniment and atmospheric sounds, transformed the poetry into something larger than words alone.
The music didn't simply sit behind the poems. It added texture, emotion, and meaning, creating a deeper experience for both performer and listener. Are musicians poets? Are poets musicians? When spoken word is paired with instruments, rhythm, and sound, does it become music? The thoughtful conversation continued, even after the concert!
Sound Beyond Traditional Instruments
Part of what made the performance so memorable was the wide range of sounds incorporated throughout the evening.
Alongside more traditional instruments, the audience heard finger cymbals, gongs, flutes, rattles, shakers, and other auxiliary percussion that added unexpected colors and textures to the performance. Every sound seemed to serve the story being told in that moment.
The result was a sonic landscape that felt exploratory, immersive, and completely original.
Lizz Vega's Original Music
In addition to collaborating throughout the evening, Lizz Vega shared several of her original songs featuring harp and vocals.
Her performances brought moments of beauty, warmth, and reflection to the evening, offering another layer to an already dynamic artistic experience. Her harp work blended naturally with the improvisational spirit of the show, creating moments that felt both grounded and ethereal.
The Conch Shell Moment
One of the most memorable moments came near the end of the night.
Adam Pergament, known as FlowPoetry, incorporated a conch shell into the performance, exploring the unique sounds it could produce. As it happened, host Kati Taylor has several conch shells as part of her home décor and collection. Although Adam had brought his own shell, the evening concluded with an impromptu conch shell duet as the two experimented with the sounds and tones they could create together.
It was playful, unexpected, and perfectly captured the spirit of the entire evening!
Sharing An Experience
The concert featured two sets with a break in between, giving guests time to connect and continue conversations inspired by the performance.
FlowPoetry, originally from Wisconsin and now a traveling artist who shares his work around the world, brought his gift for connection and thoughtful expression. Lizz Vega, originally from California, now based in Marion, IN added her unique musical voice, while her husband Jameson Bradford of Glostick (formerly Glostik Willy) helped with sound and production support throughout the evening.
Together, they created something that could never be exactly replicated.
A Special and Unique House Concerts
One of the joys of hosting house concerts is creating space for artistic experiences that don't easily fit into traditional categories or might not make sense at regular venues. The FlowPoetry performance reminded us that music can be poetry, poetry can become music, and meaningful art often lives in the spaces between definitions.
Thank you to FlowPoetry, Lizz Vega, and everyone who joined us for an evening of creativity, curiosity, connection, and listening.
It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
